Answering RFIs
If you’re the designated Reviewer for RFIs on a project, or if you’ve been assigned to review individual RFIs, you’re responsible for providing an answer to an RFI when it’s sent to you. When there’s an RFI in need of an answer, you’ll receive an email notifying you.
Click the link from the email to go directly to the RFI in PlanGrid. Review the question and any associated references or documents. When you’re ready to answer the RFI, click “Answer.”
You’ll be given space to provide an answer along with the ability to attach any references, including photos, documents, and snapshots. When you’ve filled in your reply, click “Submit answer,” which will return the RFI with your answer to the RFI Manager.
Returning an RFI to the Manager
If the question is in need of clarification or more context before it can be answered, you may return the question to the previous step.
A popup will appear so you can explain the reason for the return and include references if needed:
After clicking Return Question, the RFI will be noted as returned and set to the "Draft with Manager" status. The manager will be set as the ball-in-court and notified by email.
The RFI will be noted as “Returned” in the dashboard view.
Answering RFIs by email
If you’ve received an email indicating that you’ve been assigned an RFI to review but you’re not on PlanGrid, you can reply directly by email. You’ll see an email that looks like this:
When you’re ready to answer the RFI, simply reply to the email and include any necessary attachments (up to 10mb). The RFI Manager will receive your reply and attachments and be able to distribute your answer directly to the project team.
